We Need More Trees

“The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now.” – Chinese Proverb

There a millions of quotes that speak to the need to begin whatever it is that you are postponing, however, the visual imagery and simplicity of this one has been swimming around in my brain since I read it.

I, like so many of you, am not immune to the siren song of procrastination. There are so many ways to avoid doing things that we WANT to do – things that we say are important to us.
Thoughts that we should have done it, accomplished it or finished it at some point prior to right now keep us from even beginning.

We let the fact that we haven’t done it YET keep us from doing it NOW.

What are you waiting for? Take one step forward on that thing you keep saying you’ll do. Make one call, send one email, write one paragraph, make one drawing, take one step – plant that tree.

Plant that tree. Today. Now.
